Mastodon‘s new album Emperor of Sand has claimed a top-10 debut on the Billboard 200. The seventh studio effort from the Atlanta metallers arrives at number seven on the chart with a total of 43,000 equivalent album unites, 41,000 of which were pure album sales.
Emperor of Sand is the third Mastodon album to reach the Billboard 200’s top 10: 2011’s The Hunter bowed at number 10, while 2014’s Once More ‘Round the Sun debuted at a career-high number six.
Mastodon will kick off a U.S. headlining tour in support of Emperor of Sand on April 14 in Missoula, Montana.
