Linkin Park wasn’t the only band to reunite in 2024. Several other big-name groups got back together, none more surprising than Oasis.
Since the “Wonderwall” outfit broke up in 2009, brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher remained estranged while constantly feuding through the press or social media. While reports that the Gallaghers had reconciled would occasionally pop up over the years, they would never amount to anything other than Liam calling Noel a “potato” again.
Finally, though, Noel and Liam buried the hatchet and announced an Oasis reunion tour in August. The worldwide stadium run will launch in July 2025 in the U.K. and will come to the U.S. a month later.
While we still have to wait to see Oasis officially return to the stage, Creed returned in 2024 for their first live shows in over 10 years. The “Higher” rockers, who last played together in 2012, announced their reunion in 2023, but didn’t take the stage again until April 2024 during the Summer of ’99 concert cruise.
That was followed by a full reunion tour, which included their largest-ever headlining show. The second leg of the tour hit arenas including New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
Creed also kicked off their eventful year by starring in a Super Bowl commercial for Paramount+.
Ever the haven for reunions, Coachella 2024 featured the return of both No Doubt and Sublime. Gwen Stefani and company played their first shows together in nine years, while the “Santeria” outfit reformed with original members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh alongside the late Bradley Nowell‘s son, Jakob Nowell.
Other 2024 reunions included Slayer, R.E.M. and the Sex Pistols. Slayer played a pair of festival shows after ending their farewell tour in 2019; all four members of R.E.M. performed together for the first time in nearly 30 years at the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction; and three-fourths of the original Sex Pistols lineup got back together, with Frank Carter in place of frontman Johnny Rotten.
