The Black Keys have premiered a new single called “The Night Before.”
“It’s so groove-based,” frontman Dan Auerbach says of the track, which the Keys created alongside songwriter Daniel Tashian. “‘The Night Before’ started with a chord progression that Daniel and I came up with and the rest just fell out. It was really collaborative and all came together in about 30 minutes.”
You can listen to “The Night Before” now via digital outlets and watch its accompanying video, which finds the “Lonely Boy” duo providing the soundtrack to a relationship between two hotel employees, streaming now on YouTube.
“The Night Before” follows the 2024 Keys album, Ohio Players, which they were supposed to support on a U.S. arena tour before it was canceled. The situation led the band to fire their management team, which they detail in a new profile published by Rolling Stone.
The Black Keys have since announced a new run of U.S. theater and amphitheater shows, kicking off in May. They’re also set to release a new album called No Rain, No Flowers later in the year.
